Can my loadcell be calibrated?
Yes, most types of loadcell can be calibrated at our works in the West Midlands.
Please send the loadcell together with the monitor / output display and any cables to:
AJT Equipment Ltd, Unit 8 Enterprise Trading Estate, Hurst Lane, Brierley Hill, West Midlands, DY5 1TX, UK
Please send your purchase order to [email protected].
Our loadcell calibration prices can be downloaded here.
What size loadcells are available?
Loadcell capacities range from 1 Tonne to 500 Tonnes as standard. We can also manufacture bespoke loadcells to suit your test machine requirements.
What is the lead time for a new loadcell?
Several loadcell capacities are held in stock and can be dispatched in a couple of days. For higher capacities lead time is approximately 2-3 working weeks.
My loadcell is not working properly - can you help?
We suggest you give us a call, or email and send your loadcell to AJT Equipment for assessment. We will let you know if it can be repaired, and any further costs.
Mobile Calibration – AJT Equipment.
Can you calibrate my crane scale?
Yes. A wide range of crane scales can be calibrated at our works in the West Midlands.
Can you collect and deliver loadcells for calibration?
We can collect loadcells from local companies. Our calibration engineer can also bring loadcells back for calibration after the calibration of your test machine.
Alternatively, a courier collection can be arranged to collect your loadcells and bring them to AJT Equipment.
Most loadcells are returned to customers using a next-day courier service.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes. We can take payment by credit card in person in the office, or can email a payment link for you to pay online. We cannot take payments over the telephone.
Please be aware that credit card payments incur a 2.5% fee which is the fee we are charged for credit card transactions.
When does my loadcell need calibrating?
A loadcell needs calibrating every 12 months -in accordance with ISO 7500. Other reasons to calibrate your loadcell include:
- Unexpected readings
- A load greater than the loadcell capacity has been applied
- Your calibration certificate is out of date
How much does it cost to calibrate my loadcell?
Please follow this website link for our pricelist: Mobile Calibration – AJT Equipment
Can I hire a loadcell?
No. At the present time, AJT Equipment don’t hire out loadcells.
What is the biggest test machine that you make?
All of our test machines are bespoke to your test requirements. So far, the largest capacity test machine that we’ve manufactured has a capacity of over 3000 Tonnes (30,000kN). Please get in touch to find out how we can help you with your test requirements.
Can a test machine be made to my specification?
Yes, AJT Equipment design and manufacture test machines to match our customer’s individual specification. Please check out our TEST MACHINE webpage and complete our enquiry form.
What is the Warranty of my test machine?
Our test machines are supplied with 12 months Warranty.
Can I upgrade the software on my test machine?
Some software can be upgraded, but on older machines a new control system is often required to ensure they are compatible with the current computer controlled software.
Please get in touch with your enquiry for a no-obligation quotation.
Can I upgrade the capacity of my test machine?
We can assist with possible upgrades to AJT Equipment manufactured test machines – please get in touch so that one of our engineers can discuss this with you.
The capacity of the test machine depends on 3 main components:
- The Test machine frame
- The Cylinders that apply the load and the hydraulic power available
- The loadcell
Each of these needs to be assessed individually to check what potential capacity can be reached with your individual test machine.
My test machine has been downgraded - what can I do to bring it back to the original specification
Our engineers will need to assess your test machine. In the first instance, please send an email to [email protected] with any drawings and photos of the machine, together with your requirements.
Can you calibrate my test machine?
Our engineers can calibrate a wide range of tensile and compression test machines at customer sites in the UK and around the world.
Please send an email including details of the site location, the capacity of the test machine and photos of the machine so that we can prepare a quotation for you to [email protected].
What happens during a calibration on my site?
An engineer will bring a master loadcell to your site, and install it into your test machine. The engineer will run your machine across it’s capacity range, and compare the readings on your test machine with readings from the master loadcell. If the machine needs adjustments to improve accuracy and reliability the engineer will make the necessary changes.
A job sheet will be signed by you, and the engineer to confirm that the work has taken place. A calibration expiry date sticker will be put on the machine for reference.
We will often ask for photos of your machine before a site visit to a calibration so the engineer can ensure he brings the correct equipment to site.
When does my test machine need to be calibrated?
- 12 months after calibration carried out in accordance with ISO 7500.
- After relocating your test machine, if it was taken apart,
- After the machine has undergone major repairs or adjustments
- If a load greater than the loadcell capacity is applied
How long does calibration take?
Most machine calibrations take under 2 hours. Generally if more than one machine is calibrated on site, further machines will take an additional 1 – 1 ½ hours each.
My test machine is not working– can you help?
Please call us with as much information as possible, including photos if applicable. One of our engineers will give you advice, and we’ll arrange a site visit to assist if possible. 01384 482 848.
What calibration standards do AJT calibrate to?
Calibrations are carried out in accordance with ISO 7500-1
Our master loadcells, (used for calibration) are calibrated to ISO 376:2011
Measurements are traceable to the International System of Units (SI) via a National Metrology Institute.
What is ISO 7500-1?
ISO 7500-1 is the International Standard that specifies the calibration and verification of test machines, particularly those used for tensile or compression testing of materials. Machines calibrated to this standard apply and measure force accurately and reliably.
What is ISO 376?
ISO 376:2011 is the international standard for the calibration of loadcells which are used for the calibration of tensile and compression test machines.
Is the calibration UKAS Traceable?
UKAS is the accreditation body, for the laboratory, not the traceability. The traceability is to National standards through the laboratory performing the calibration of our Master Loadcell.
The Master Loadcell is calibrated to ISO 376 by a UKAS accredited laboratory in the UK. The Master Loadcell serial number on your certificate together with the laboratory number enables this traceability.
